What You See

What do you think about when you hear 'looks can be deceiving' or 'don't judge a book by its cover'?  These phrases give a hint that what you see may not be all that's there.  It's a reminder to take a deeper look beyond the surface, into the heart of what's really there.

The book of 1 Samuel Chapter 16, verse 7 gives us God's view:

"For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."

We tend to pay close attention to what we see on the surface, and believe that's all there is.  Then we often make decisions about people and situations without having considered the whole picture.  When we do this, we miss the chance to recognize what's truly there, hidden under the surface, waiting to be discovered and uncovered.  That's where true beauty lies.  

Let's change the lenses from which we see.
